Rustic Kitchens

I seem to be drawn to rustic/country style at the moment. Perhaps it's the simplicity and earthiness I crave. These kitchens seem to take the pressure off when it comes to decorating. They are just naturally beautiful.

I sometimes dream about living in the country..and wouldn't it be romantic to convert an old barn into a home? What do you think?

A Country Break

After an awful week, we headed to one of my favourite parts of the world.. Gippsland.. in country Victoria. We stayed overnight in a gorgeous cottage with the most incredible views. The garden had many little secret paths for the girls and the country air was just what we needed. My iPhone photos don't do this property any justice, but you can find their lovely website here: www.carrelly.com.au.

Goodbye Beautiful Boy

On Saturday we went into the city to meet a close friend for lunch. We had planned this lunch for a long time and were all looking forward to it. Our friend never arrived and after several phone calls with the police, they entered his apartment in the evening (we were concerned that something may have happened as he lived alone and had suffered from feeling faint at times due to anaemia). At 2am Sunday morning, the police came to our home and told us that he had passed away. I believe it was very sudden.

He was my husband's closest friend and I adored him. When someone we love dies suddenly, we are left to regret not having lunch sooner, not spending more time, not expressing enough the love we felt. I like to believe that he knew. Sometimes in life we don't do these things as we fear 'overstepping the boundaries'. I will never make that mistake again and that is what I want to share with you..Don't ever hesitate with those you love. Our friend was a rare diamond. Our thoughts are with his father, mother, sister and nephews.

Goodbye beautiful boy. You are irreplaceable and we will miss you terribly.

He who has gone, so we but cherish his memory,
abides with us, more potent, nay,
more present than the living man.

GreenGate & A Magazine Shoot

It's been a very busy month here with a little magazine shoot of our home (the finished parts..). I'll share some photos with you when I have them. I can finally show you the rest of the family room and the teen bedroom/ensuite. We were very flattered to have our home photographed!

This week a shipment of GreenGate arrived, very exciting! You can have a look at the beautiful range in the shop - www.gidgishop.com. I have more beautiful ceramics coming in over the next couple of months from The Netherlands and Sweden. Maybe some ideas for Mothers Day? xx

First Day of School

Charlotte was so excited and happy to start school this week! It was a big day for everyone. Mum and little sister had a few tears (all of which Dad captured on camera), but we are all thrilled that Charlotte seems to love school so much. It was funny, I felt anxious about everything - her lunch, her uniform, her shoes, her socks, everything! I'm beginning to think that the first day of school is more nerve-wracking for the parents! It was hard for the mums and dads to leave, we were all peeking in the windows for as long as we could.. Charlotte was confident and calm and we couldn't be happier. This is the start of a long journey, but I really think she'll have the time of her life. Love you Chazzy xxxx

Your Own Little Corner

That's all we really need, isn't it? I just love wrapping stations, craft corners, home offices. I've set up a wrapping station for the shop and I love it! Here are some I found that I think are lovely..xx
